Description of Work by Position
Groundman - 1 Position Available
Equipment Preparation: Ready all necessary tools and equipment for the day’s operations.
Site Setup: Efficiently stage gear and establish site safety measures including cones, signage, barriers, and matting as required.
Support Climber: Assist the climber by attaching lines and necessary gear for the work. Operate devices and equipment to manage the lowering or handling of tree parts.
Line Management: Safely handle and manage ropes during tree removals or pruning to ensure smooth operations.
Communication: Maintain clear and continuous communication with the climber regarding the progress of ground operations. Follow instructions from the Climber and Ground Boss to facilitate efficient workflow.
Operational Awareness: Stay alert to all site activities (including and especially those activities overhead), ensuring safety and operational efficiency on the ground.
Physical Tasks: Engage in lifting, dragging, and carrying tree parts. Perform landscaping tasks as necessary, primarily in support of tree care operations. Engage in stand-alone landscaping activities on an infrequent basis as required.
Vehicle and Equipment Operations: Drive large commercial (under-CDL) vehicles, tow trailers, and operate ground machinery such as saws, blowers, chippers, mini skid-steers, tractors, and stump grinders as part of daily operations.
Starting Pay: $17-$23/Hr.
Preference is Given to the Following:
Prior work experience in the field of arboriculture or landscaping
Commercial Drivers' License (Class A) or an ability to obtain
ISA Certification (Arborist or Tree Climber Specialist)
Completed TCIA training certificates for ground operations, climbing, or tree biology
Experience with tying knots and rope handling
Holders of any and all verifiable certifications pertaining to the field of arboriculture

Tree Climber - CLOSED
Looking for a position that is equal parts physical and mental? Don a harness! Climbers invariably dictate the pace and bear heavy responsibility over the success of every job requiring their skills. The climber is entirely responsible for all activities within the drop site. Exceptional situational awareness is an absolute must. Climbers must be meticulous with the care of their gear, communicate clearly and be patient with their cuts. This position is reserved for members of the crew that have proven competency in saw handling/technical skills, hinge mechanics. It requires a minimum of a mid-level education in tree biology and physiology, and climbers must have a firm understanding of general physics and have demonstrated the physical aptitude that long days aloft will require.
Climbers are responsible for the safe dismantling of tree parts by understanding what equipment to use and how it is utilized to include, lines, aerial anchors, redirects, friction devices and a variety of climbing equipment. Climbers recognize the necessity for following a work plan and where necessary, make adjustments and decisions regarding fine details of work orders where only general instructions may be available. Works closely with the arborist with regard to work planning.
Climbers must have advanced knowledge of rope handling and knots, be able to ascend with or without the use of spurs or mechanical means, and will be trained in aerial rescue operations before any climbing is conducted for production.

Certified Arborist - CLOSED
Field assesses target trees in all planting, pruning, or removal scenarios. Leverages advanced knowledge of tree biology to make educated recommendations for work to be performed before endorsing work plans. Frequently conducts in person and in-tree inspections to deduce a diagnosis of tree-borne illnesses, pests, disorders and defects. Works closely with Sales Specialists to determine proper courses of action to communicate to clients before passing along work orders to the operations crews. May directly oversee complex removals and pruning operations as necessary.
Requires in-depth expertise in tree biology physiology and advanced education in physics, soil mechanics, plant classification, selection, and water management as they relate to trees.
This position requires a current certification either Arborist or BCMA from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or a bachelors degree in arboriculture.
Starting Pay: $24-$34/Hr.

Sales Specialist (Commission Based) - CLOSED
Sales Specialists travel to and interface with clients, acting as the "face" of Crown Down Tree Service. They construct bids utilizing digital photography and digital bid forms that, once reviewed by the arborist, are clarified and submitted to the clients. Strong interpersonal-communication skills, attention to detail, comfort with digital technology and an in-depth knowledge of arboriculture related activities are necessary to make recommendations for required staffing and equipment to conduct work on a job-by-job basis. Upon approval of quotes by the client, the Sales Specialist adds jobs to the schedule with respect for pre-scheduled jobs and their necessary staffing and equipment requirements and aids with post-job client follow-ups.
Sales specialists will, with relative frequency, make appearances on active job sites to take additional photos for marketing and progress purposes.
This position is commission-based on closed sales.

Office Assistant (Part-Time Only)
Organized and detail-oriented, Crown Down's Administrative Assistant will have excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a client-facing environment. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for answering client calls, scheduling appointments and work, following up and responding to emails, maintaining accurate and efficient records, and performing other general clerical and office-based tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the company. While the position is primarily remote as most administrative tasks can be performed utilizing a company-provided mobile device, the Admin Assistant will be frequently required to report in-office for a variety of functions that consist of non-digital filings. The Admin Assistant will frequently coordinate with team members of the company at all levels to facilitate their job duties efficiently and with regard for company's operation needs and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Answering client calls and directing callers to the appropriate department or individual
Scheduling appointments and work for the company's tree service technicians
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client information and work schedules
Organizing and maintaining physical and digital files in a timely and efficient manner
Responding to client inquiries and following up on any outstanding issues or concerns
Assisting with general administrative tasks, such as data entry, office organization
Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company
Requirements:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills

Working Conditions:
The Administrative Assistant will work in an office environment and will be required to sit for extended periods of time. The position may also require some occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
This position is part-time and a combination of in-office and remote work that will likely evolve as both the company and employee grow together.

Education or experience in business administration, human resources, business finance, company social media management, photography, and/or media editing
